Giorgio Z Gatti was born in Milan. From 1986-1992 he attended the Polytechnic University of Milan and graduated in architecture. In 1992, he moved to Madrid. From 1994-1997 he published editorials for various fashion magazines such as B&N, Spanish Elle, Vanidad, etc. In 1997, after working in New York and Paris, he returned to Milan where he then worked for Italian Harper's Bazaar, Grazia, Io Donna. From 2000 onwards, he worked in New York for clients such as Macy's West and magazines such as Nylon. Since 2003, his fashion and eauty photos appear on French Elle, Italian Elle, Russian Elle, Japanese Elle, View, Squint, Italian Vanity Fair and many others.

He has collaborated with fashion editors such as Giovanna Battaglia, Ada Kokosar, Amelianna Loiacono, Sara Maino, Alberto Zanoletti, Micaela Sessa, Ivana Spernicelli, Yolanda Sacristan, Jason Farrer. He has created campaigns for clients such as Montblanc, Gianfranco Ferrè, La Perla, Extè, Blumarine, Fay, etc.

The Skin I Lived, a book published in 2002 by Egoiste Publications, includes several of his covers and editorials. During Milan Fashion Week in February 2008, his editorials for Italian Elle were showcased in Via della Spiga. In 2011, his works were displayed during the 9th edition of the International Festival of Fashion Photography in Cannes. From 1998 to 2010, he has shot more than 5.000 erotic chic private polaroids.
